The Parlotones – Overexposed

25Feb09

Here at CBM, we like The Parlotones. We like their music, we like their look and we like their attitude. In fact, this award winning South African band really rock our socks. How pleased were we to hear their newest single Overexposed? Very.

This is a perfect example of how to write a pop-rock-indie tune. A melodic verse followed by a swooping, epic chorus: wonderful. This, as a taste of what’s to come from their forthcoming Long Player A World Next Door To Yours, is exciting and a step on from their previous material, which was also of a very high standard.

The main difference here though is the maturity of the song writing. Whereas older efforts, such as Louder Than Bombs, where huge in South Africa but could only cause a murmur over here (sadly I might add), Overexposed is perfectly pitched at a UK audience with jangly, rather than heavyish, guitars.

We like this alot, and so will you.

Listen to Overexposed here, or buy it when it’s released on March 23rd.
